Sunshine Garden's Annual Plant Sale - Saturday - March 2, 2019
Here are some ways to help out with the Plant Sale recommended by Randy and Janet:
- Spread the word about sale itself.
- Come to work days as we prepare.
- Sign up for specific tasks once Sign Up Genius is posted.
- Get passalongs ready for the sale.
- Checkout the plant list when posted.
- Spread the word about the sale itself.
The Annual Plant Sale is a great way to get in some of your Volunteer Hours for 2019.
Silent Auction for Plant Sale - Headed by Mary Drake
This is your fellow gardener, Mary Drake, who has volunteered to be in charge of the silent auction for this year"s plant sale. I will be asking Austin area businesses and organizations to donate items and services for the silent auction. If you have items, services to donate or time to help with the auction please let me know. Please send me leads on businesses or organizations that would be willing to donate.

Other Important Volunteer Project for Sat. 1/12 at 8 am
Help of many hands is needed replacing the plastic on the hoop house. If you've noticed, our greenhouse is without a roof since the last big wind storm. We need it re-plastic-ed for the seedlings for the plant sale.
The plastic has been ordered and SHOULD arrive later this week so we can all get together on Saturday morning and have a "greenhouse raising." Unless you get another notice cancelling this event, please show up. We need lots of hands.
We'll be starting at 8 AM. That's THIS Saturday. January 12, 2019

Annual Bills to be Emailed Next Week
The annual bills are being prepared for 2019 plot fees and any unworked service hours in the Fall 2018 season. They will be sent by email to each primary gardener on or before January 15 and due by February 1.
New gardeners will receive bills for the Spring season only and will be billed again in the Fall. All other primary gardeners will receive an annual bill. If you would like to make special arrangements for paying the bill, please contact Carol Limaye at scgtreasurer1@gmail.com. Any questions about the service hours should be directed to Noelle Letteri at nletteri@yahoo.com.
The Kindness of Gardeners at Sunshine
Gardener Nick Noy writes: "I have been a member of Sunshine Community Garden for the past 3-4 years. This past September I had knee replacement surgery which forced me to let my plot go fallow this fall. In anticipation of the surgery I laid a thick layer of compost to help keep the weeds at bay. With Christmas behind me and being at a point I can resume some of my normal activities, I ventured to the garden this past Saturday to survey the weed situation. My mouth hung in awe as I stood before my plot. The few spent okra and pepper plants I left were gone and there was not a single weed in the garden. Someone obviously performed a random act of kindness and I was the beneficiary. I want whoever is responsible to know that with all the crazy times we are living through you have restored my faith in my fellow man. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Know also that your act of kindness will be repaid 10 fold."

Christmas Tree Pickup - Boy Scout Troop 20
Hi Everyone,
If you would like to have the Boy Scouts pickup your Christmas Tree, you can call 978-309-9501 to arrange. It's a $5.00 donation to the Troop and they recycle the trees as garden wood chips. My tree is behind the recycle barrels so it won't blow away (like last year!). I will bring it out to the street for the January 12 pickup. Happy New Year to All!

Sad News for Our Fellow Gardener
Steven, son of Jimmie and Carroll Schneider, passed away January 1, 2019. Visitation will be Friday January 11 from 5-8. The funeral will be on Saturday, January 12 from 3:30 to 4:30. These services will be are held at:
