Membership Fees Due on February 1

The invoices for the annual membership dues associated with assigned plots were emailed to primary gardeners on January 15. Payments are due by February 1. Late payments are accepted, but those fees are not eligible for refund if the gardener withdraws during the year. After March 1, the plot is assumed to be abandoned if there has been no response. Please contact Carol Limaye at scgtreasurer1@gmail.com if you have not received an invoice or need to work out a payment plan.

Important Clarification: Plant Ordering From Jeff/Jen

There is some confusion about the survey many of you completed relating to plants likely to order from Jeff and Jen. Some of you have indicated you believe completing the survey was the same as actually ordering plants. That is not the case. Actual ordering will not occur until mid-February. The survey was simply to help Jeff and Jen get a better idea of the varieties and number of plants which might be ordered. Because of variations in germination rates and growing conditions, Jeff and Jen won't have a solid count until mid-February, and people can order with relative confidence that they'll get what they ask for. At that time, they will announce they are ready to take actual orders. Delivery will be early March. We apologize for the confusion. Be sure and watch for the announcement of when you can place your actual order.

Stir Fried Broccoli

Ingredients:

• 1/4 tsp. chicken-flavored bouillon or vegetable-flavored bullion
• 1/4 c. hot water
• 1 & 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
• 1 tsp. sugar
• 1 tbsp. soy sauce
• 1 tbsp. sherry or white wine
• 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
• 1 clove minced garlic
• 1 & 1/2 c. coarsely chopped fresh broccoli flowerettes

Directions:

Dissolve bouillon in water. Combine cornstarch and sugar; stir into bullion mixture.

Add soy sauce and sherry or wine. Set aside.

Pour oil around top of preheated wok or stir-fry pan, coating sides. Allow oil to heat at medium temperature for about 1 minute. Add garlic; stir fry for 30 seconds.

Add broccoli; stir fry for 2 minutes. Pour bouillon mixture over broccoli, stirring well. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened.
