It's Almost Tomato Season!
Does Ila Falvey have the first SCG tomato of the season? These Blush tomatoes ripen to a yellow.
Please send a photo of your Ripe tomatoes for publication in next week's Weekly Weeder.

Community Flower Bed Clean Up
Sunday May 5 10am-1pm
Need additional volunteer hours? The goal on the flower bed cleanup is to have the beds in good enough shape before mulching for the summer. If you are interesting in this type of project, please show up. This activity relies on plant identification so it is an opportunity to learn.
Thanks,

The Compost Saga Continues
Please take a look at these two are shots of the compost pile showing six and eight day accumulations. Do not leave whole plants in the pile; beside the issues of space and how long decomposition will take , some things are taking root and growing in the wet weather.
Guidelines for composting can be found at ttp://sunshinecommunitygardens.org/index.php?p=compost_info
2019 Annual Membership Meeting
Saturday May 18 - 9:00 am
There will be breakfast tacos provided.
Proposed Change to Bylaws
We have a chance to make a needed change to the bylaws at the All Gardeners meeting on May 18, 9:00 AM. The proposed change would increase the term limits for the Secretary and Treasurer from 4 years to 6 years. While term limits for the Board is good policy in general, the positions of Secretary and Treasurer are more administrative and require continuity.
Specifically, the changes to Article 4 (6) are in red:
Term of Office for Directors - Directors shall serve terms of two (2) years or until their successor is elected After serving two consecutive terms, or three (3) consecutive terms in the case of the Secretary and Treasurer, a Director must vacate his or her position for at least one year before seeking re-election to another term. Terms of office for Directors run from June 1 through May 31.
The members can pass the amendment by a two-thirds vote since this constitutes 30 days notice. (Without prior notice, the amendment can be passed by 99% of the members present at the meeting.)
It should be noted that the Bylaws also provide for the recall of a director at any time with a petition signed by 10% of the members and a two-thirds vote of members present at a meeting.
