Share Your Tomato Successes & Failures

Please rate Tomatoes from our Gardens this year

Randy Thompson - who devotes considerable time to SCG both at ordering tomatoes for the sale and caring for the Compost Piles which we can all take advantage of - asks for your feedback on Tomatoes:

While it is still fresh in everyone's mind could you share some of your experiences with your garden this spring. The kinds of information I am looking for include but not limited to and my answers.

Favorite new tomatoes	Aladdin's Lamp Butter Apple Kryptonite
Favorite new peppers	Maria Elena Osmarsko Kambe
Highest yield tomatoes	Cherokee Green Liz Birt
Tomatoes that cratered (catch all for sudden wilts)	Azoychka Fireworks Yellow Pear
Mislabelled plants at sale	Corno di Toro Yellow (produced small hot peppers on pubescent plants)
Varieties not from the plant sale that excited you	several folks have brought Brad's Atomic Grape to my attention
Tomatoes with atypically low yields this year	Cream Sausage Sarah Black
Practice you think more gardener's should adopt	make a planting chart - tags fade, get broken or lost and removes plastic from the environment
Biggest disappointment	not a single tomato on Anthony's Passionate Heart and poor quality of Bodacious fruit
The joy that comes with each harvest	that first tomato sandwich or first batch of pesto and slicing a Muddy Mamba and seeing those swirls of color

Election results are in!

We have three new directors for the board.

• Kay McMurry
• Marsha Riti
• Doug Zullo

Our new Secretary is: Kerry Drake.

We want to thank everyone who put themselves out there and ran for office, when more participate, our garden thrives.

I also want to thank our departing board members who contributed so much to the board. They include our Secretary, Noelle Letteri, and Directors Linda Booker, Jeff Taylor, and Randy Thompson. Their participation helped our organization move forward and get the things done administratively that allow us all to continue to play in the dirt.

Seventy people cast ballots. 7 in person and 63 online. This comes to roughly 25% participation.
