Need Some Flowers to Transplant in your Yard?
Sunshine's Flower garden behind the trailer may have some flowers for you.
Ila Falvey reports the following:
Several of us are working on the garden this Sunday (10/4) around 10 AM. The plan is to remove some cannas and white ruellia. If you want any for your home planting, please stop by with a bucket to claim them before noon. Or let me know that you want them. Ila.falvey@gmail.com
The Dumpster Blues - Really People?
Randy Thompson submitted the following dumpster photos before and after he cleaned up:
Randy pleads that "if the Dumpster is full, stop adding to it." Please either take your trash home or hold it on your plot until the dumpster is emptied.
Reuse rather than recycle 4 inch pots (other pots too)
Your 4 inch pots (and others) can be reused. Please do not throw them out but stack them in the Hoop House.
Aerobic Compost Tea Brewing in the hoop house
There will be compost tea on a continuing basis until Oct 15 (maybe longer).. When it runs out it takes about 24 hours to brew it again. Look for the sign "Compost Tea Today" as that means it is available. If you happen to use the last of the tea then please remove the sign.
Compost tea is reported to improve your soil.
The two key reasons to use compost tea are:
- Impart microbial life into the soil or onto the foliage of plants
- Add soluble nutrients to the foliage or to the soil to feed the organisms and the plants present.
Keeping the Garden and its Equipment Safe
Closing Locks on Front Gate and Tool Shed - It is Different
The combination locks on the front gate and tool shed were recently changed. The new locks close differently than combination locks many of us are familiar with. Unlike other locks, the shackle/shank can be closed only when the numbers are set to the combination for opening the lock. Once the shackle/ shank is closed the numbers must be twirled to lock the lock. Otherwise, lock can be opened simply by pulling up on shackle/shank.
So if you are locking up the front gate or tool shed, follow this procedure:
- be sure numbers are set on combination to open the lock
- close the shackle/shank
- twirl the numbers
