Your Garden Needs You!
We Need Volunteers for an Education Committee
The Sunshine Board is supporting and recommending the establishment of an Education Committee. This Committee would work to establish a handbook for all gardeners, orientation materials for new gardeners, and work on any other programs or materials that they think would be beneficial to the Sunshine Community.
We know we have a wonderful group of educators, writers, artists, designers, and administrators at Sunshine, and we are calling on you to share your talent ! Please consider being part of this important group. If interested, contact Ila Falvey at ila.falvey@gmail.com, by November 15.
Rabbits are Back
Many of you will be relieved to know that several rabbits have been caught this week. There are, however, more rabbits out there, so there are many live-catch traps out in the gardens.
If you spot any animals of any kind in the traps, please send a text message to the telephone number on the trap, or email Stewart at elmer@math.austin.tx.us.
Also, please report any NEW rabbit sightings to the above address, giving the date/time seen, and where seen, including plot number if known.
If you are interested or willing to help please contact Stewart at elmer@math.austin.tx.us.
Help Wanted
Saturday, 15th November, Lots of help needed. Come one come all.
We need to replace the plastic on the greenhouse in preparation for seeding the herbs for the plant sale. This job will take a lot of volunteers. If you have any questions contact Janet Adams at jartdaht@ gmail.com.

Are holes appearing in the leaves of your vegetables?
The problem could be caterpillars. Check out this link for information on types of caterpillars in Central Texas.
Reminders
Sunshine Garden is open to the public during daylight hours. Occasionally our produce "disappears." Most recently a pumpkin (the only one), was taken and two children who were watching it grow are very disappointed.
Please get to know your fellow gardeners and if you see someone you don't know introduce yourself. Only you can prevent theft.
Also, we are falling back to standard time and the last gardener to leave the garden is responsible for locking up. Check with your zone coordinator if you have forgotten the combination.
Reminder - Drive slowly - the speed limit is 3 mph.
Work Hours
Deadline for completing AND SUBMITTING fall season work hours is December 31. Remember, all accounting for hours and fees is done through the primary gardener's name.
Coming January 1! All hours will be recorded on our website, via the Virtual Green Binder. The green binder in the shed will be retired. Tutorials in how to use the Virtual Green Binder will be held prior to January 1.
Fire ants
They are rising again. They tend to go deeper in the ground during the summer to avoid the heat. There is "Come and Get it" bait in the tool shed. Please read the instructions for application. Place the bait around the mound not on it. Use a moderate amount (follow instructions) and return to shed after use. This bait is approved for organic vegetable gardens.
Lost & Found
A stroller has been left at Sunshine. It is now inside the trailer. Would the child or parent who is missing their stroller please claim it?
