Watering Resumes at Sunshine
Q: Are mandatory emergency water-use restrictions still in place?
A: NO!! Austin Water Director, Greg Meszaros, has lifted the emergency water use restrictions that have been in place since Monday, October 22, 2018. Customers can resume outdoor water use, including one-per-week watering. New Quarter Plots Added in Zone 7
Kay McMurry reports: A big thank you goes out to Bill Cason and Kerry Howell. They single-handedly put in three new quarter plots in zone 7. The new plots have wooden borders and mulched pathways. It took a lot of effort on their part but the results look great. The plots are already filled. Please check them out next time you're in the garden.
Correction
Holiday Potluck Save the Date Dec. 2, 2018
The Holiday Potluck is on 12/2/18 as reported in last week's Weeder, but it is a Sunday, December 2 from 5:30-7:30 pm., not Saturday. The feast will include live music, potluck supper, and the company of all of your gardening friends... with a bonus of holiday gifts. If you would like to help with this event, please contact Ila Falvey.
Service Work Hours Requirement
The holidays will soon be upon us as well as the December 31st deadline for our work hours. Please access the Sunshine Community Gardens website, and click on Member Info, and then on the tab for Service Hours Guide for information on tasks for the regular and TSBVI service hours. When weeding the TSBVI school garden, restrict the work to the gravel paths, borders, and in the rock and bark chip area near the building. Do not pull weeds from within the raised beds.
The next scheduled workday will be Sunday, November 18, led by Zone 4 coordinator, Ila Falvey, from 9-11 am. As of today, there are 3 workdays scheduled for early December. The first is Saturday, December 1, 9-11 am, led by Zone 2 coordinator, Wayne Kuenstler and his wife, Carolyn. On the following Saturday, December 8, times TBA, there will be 2 opportunities for hours with Shannon Posern (Zone 8) and Luda Voskov (Zone 3). The times will be staggered, so you can choose the best one to fit your schedule.
