Spring Plant Sale - Saturday, March 7, 2020
Please use SignUp Genius to sign up now for volunteer duties
Janet Adams reports:
Plant sale 2020
Last week I asked for some volunteers to help with making signs. I really need some volunteers to help with making signs. These are the larger ones that label the trays of plants, not the individual plant labels. It's a lot of work and a nonmember has been doing it for several years. She would like some help this time. It won't be that much work for a few more people.
Sign up: If you haven't signed up yet on SignUp Genius, please do so.
Food: Also please look at the signup for bringing food for volunteers on sale day. You can bring something to share.
Mowing: The grass is getting longer every day. Please mow everywhere.
Advertise the sale: There are newly printed posters and postcards available for you to take and give out. They are located on the tables in the trailer. Please take what you can distribute. Remember to tell your friends and family and neighbors.
New Home for the Compost Sifters
The compost sifters have a new home (some will remain by the wheelbarrows for old time's sake) near the compost pile. The storage area for the sifters is on the the back of the building where the lawn mowers are stored.(see photo below). Thank you to Robert Jarry for building it.
Next Education Team Event
On February 22 from 2-4 pm SCG will be holding an educational and volunteer opportunity for young elementary-aged children. The Girls School of Austin is sending several of their Kindergarten girls to participate in a tour, basic gardening and light work duties. If you are interested in having your child participate, please RSVP at:
*** Bring your own water bottles and gloves. Please be sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. In case of inclement weather we will cancel. There will be no make-up day. ***
Potato Planting Time
Ila Falvey reports:
It is potato planting time and time to buy seed potatoes. Shoal Creek Nursery still has some BUT cannot get anymore. The Natural Gardener also has some. I suggest you call first to be sure they still have some.
