The Compost Chronicles

Randy Thompson reports more Identifiable Foreign Objects (IFOs) found in Sunshine's Compost Pile.

Please remove all equipment and non-compostable materials from Compost Piles after depositing plant materials or collecting compost for your garden. The dumpster or tool shed would have worked for some of these IFOs.

Voting by Mail in 2020 in Texas

While a recent Travis County District Judge's decision authorized us to be able to vote by mail in upcoming 2020 elections, such decision is being challenged by the Texas Attorney General. According to the Secretary of State of Texas, to be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must:

• be 65 years or older;
• be disabled (Travis County Election website says: "sick or disabled");
• be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or
• be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible

While we don't know what the final decision regarding voting by mail during the COVID-19 pandemic will be, we do know that if you fit into one of the above categories, you can be apply for a ballot by mail regardless of the challenge by the Texas Attorney General. Please use this link to get the necessary form to apply for a mail in ballot.

Don't forget: Runoff elections held on July 14, 2020 and General Election held on November 3, 2020

Lost Homemade Mask

PS: I went by the garden after dark, 4/21 Both the tool shed and the gate--wide open. Before social distancing, i have locked the gate, often the tool shed, up to 3 times in a week, after dark, no one "home".

A big "Thank You" to John. Please remember to lock the tool shed and front gate if you are the last person to leave in the evening!
