Spread the Granite workdays - Saturday 9-12 and Sunday 9-11
A truck load of decomposed granite is being delivered on Friday. There will be special workdays both Saturday and Sunday morning to spread the granite under the new arbor in the TSBVI garden, on the pathways in the raised beds by the parking log, and to build up the area in front of the dumpster. There will also be a special project to edge the path from the trailer to the parking lot with 2 X 4's and add granite to the path. All this work will count toward TSBVI service hours. The hope is to get all the granite spread this weekend!
SCG Little Library - Little Free Library comes to Sunshine
You may have noticed a new addition to the common lawn area near the Sunshine Gardens sign. It's a funky blue box called a Little Free Library. It was donated to the garden by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Austin Public Library, and built by volunteers.
The Little Free Library is a free book exchange. The library is for adults and children alike, and anyone is welcome to take a book or leave one for others to enjoy. Stop by often to see if there's anything new to read!
There are dozens of these libraries in neighborhoods all over Austin, so keep your eyes open for others!
Herb Garden Request
Hi Fellow Gardeners! Do you have hidden arts and crafts talents that you are looking to share? The new herb garden is starting to fill in, and we would love if you have any ideas for decorative markers for the different herbs. The little plastic markers are utilitarian, but they tend to fade and break over time.
Please contact Jen Woertz at jen@enjeneer.com if you would like to help with this project.
The World's Largest Flower Garden
Dubai Miracle Garden. for SCG flower lovers. A rainbow-colored oasis with MILLION flowers is in the middle of a desert.
