Harvests for Micah 6 Food Pantry
Mary Gifford harvesting Long Beans from Micah 6 Garden for donation to Micah 6 Food Pantry. Mary picks these long beans for donation every day since they grow so quickly. -- by Dana Kuykendall.
Dana Kuykendall Thanks Gardeners for Donation
Thanks to all the Sunshine gardeners for their generous donations of fresh produce to the Micah 6 Food Pantry.
5/30/20 | 100 lbs |
6/4/20 | 104 lbs |
6/6/20 | 145 lbs |
6/10/20 | 154 lbs |
6/13 | 156 lbs |
In addition, we have received wonderful donations of non perishable pantry items and those are also given to the food pantry. Thanks so much. We are making a difference!
Many thanks to Mary Gifford, Walter Kuhl, and Dana Kuykendall who all volunteer to tend the Micah 6 Garden and organize the donations to the Micah 6 Food Pantry.
Food donation: If you have extra produce, please consider donating it to the Micah 6 Food Pantry. Produce from Sunshine Gardens is delivered to Micah 6 Food Pantry year round at 9:00 am every Saturday morning. During peak harvest times there is an additional delivery at noon on Thursdays. Since the trailer is currently closed due to COVID-19 you will need to leave your harvest in or next to the white cooler on the trailer porch. Micah 6 volunteers check the cooler at least twice a day and move produce inside for storage.
Central Texas Food Bank is also in need of financial support during these times of unprecedented need. Sunshine Garden has donated $1000 to support their efforts. There are many needy organizations at this time, but CTFB is well organized, efficient, and worthy of support. Thank you for your help!

Are Birds Pecking Your Tomatoes?
If so, here is some advice from Ila Falvey:
What to do with your bruised/little bit pecked tomatoes? Here are some ideas.
Ila requests: If you don't want to use the bruised or pecked tomatoes, please leave them by the chicken coop in the white bucket as the chickens enjoy them.
What are you doing with your Garden Produce?
Janet Adams and Randy Thompson submitted the following photos of using their produce taken from the same dinner.
Looks yummy - send your recipe along, Randy and Janet, and we will print it in next week's Weeder.
